HSE & community

We move flammable product on public roads. That’s why HSE leads.

Health, Safety and Environment performance is the licence to operate everything else in the business, and the standard our drivers, station crews and partners are held to every day.

HSE policy

How we approach safety at Dan Oil.

HSE sits inside every plan, every approval and every operating decision. The bar is high because the consequence of getting it wrong is high. Four principles run through the policy.

Zero target. ALARP impact.

Our target is zero incidents and zero injuries. Environmental impact is held to “As Low As Reasonably Practicable” and measured against SMART targets at every level of the organisation.

The stricter standard wins.

We follow whichever applies first: Nigerian regulation or international HSE practice. Where the two differ, the stricter one is the one we work to.

Trained and certified, no exceptions.

Every employee and contractor must complete the HSE training for the job they’re assigned and hold the certification it requires. No certification, no work.

Emergency capacity, exercised.

We resource the people, kit and procedures to respond to anticipated emergencies, and we exercise them on a schedule, not just file them.

Host communities

We treat the communities around our assets as partners, not bystanders.

Where Dan Oil operates, the people who live around our sites are priority stakeholders. We bring them into planning early, build local skills into our workforce on an equal-opportunity basis, and report community-impact performance alongside financial performance. The goal is the same as on HSE: zero incidents, minimum environmental impact, and the capacity in the community to meet its own development objectives.
